School Gardens
11th Apr 2025
In the afternoons, the whole school have been involved in planting, tidying and weeding our school gardens, polytunnel and pond.
The polytunnel fairy garden looks great- a big thank you to P1-3 who tidied it up and planted some beautiful wildflowers and spring bedding plants. P1 and 2 have written letters to the fairies to see if they will come and visit us.
The pond is teaming with plants and minibeasts. We love to go up and try some pond dipping. This is the time of the year, when we watch our tadpoles grow and develop into frogs. Some of tadpoles already have their back legs.
The Thomas Trail sensory beds are growing well. We love feeling and smelling all the different plants. We can smell thyme, rosemary, lavender and mint.
In the polytunnel we have planted beetroot, tomatoes, cabbage, spring onions, lettuce and mixed salad. We are also pleased that our raspberry and blackberry bushes have survived the winter frosts and are back in bloom. We look forward to see the fruits grow in early autumn.
