Today during our topic, we visited Israel. We looked at the celebration of Hanukkah on the 25th December. Pupils learned why it is celebrated by Jews. During Hanukkah a popular game to play is the dreidel so, we had a go at making our own dreidel's. A dreidel is a spinning top with four sides, each inscribed with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Pupils learned to decode what the letter meant. They had lots of fun playing this game with counters as tokens. P3 discovered that a dreidel was very similar to a dice.
